The weather was back to normal, so I decided that from now on I would leave home at nine. That would not feel too rushed, and if a train looked too crowded, I could just wait for the next one. Today the first train was a longer-distance one and not very packed, so maybe I would not have to worry too much about the packed commuter trains after all.
Today I changed seats, and now I had people sitting on both sides of me. I am not very good at socializing, so I hoped they did not think I was being aloof. In the morning I read documentation about git and Python. Especially with Python, even though I use it all the time, I usually only look things up when I need them, and I still do not understand modules and classes that well.
The company required everyone to follow PEP 8, which was another area I did not know especially well because I had previously just relied on automatic linting tools. After reading the guidelines, though, I realized the style was not that different from what I was already used to.

At lunch, the combination was the handsome Takahashi-san and the pretty Furukawa-san, and we went for sushi. Takahashi-san kept hesitating over what to take me out for, but honestly I was fine with anything. During lunch, I also shared some of the Japanese manga I liked. I mentioned Silver Spoon, Fullmetal Alchemist, and March Comes in Like a Lion. Furukawa-san seemed especially surprised by March Comes in Like a Lion.

In the afternoon I spent some time studying the mighty git rebase. It is unbelievably complicated. I read a very detailed introduction. I like to think I understood it, but if I had to use it in practice, I would probably still panic and make a mess of things.
Once that was out of the way, I started playing with AWS. After launching an instance, I somehow managed to set the firewall so strictly that even I could not connect to it, which was incredibly stupid. Once I finally got in, all I had was a Linux shell. I did not yet know what I wanted to do with it, so I started by installing oh-my-zsh, and suddenly everything became bright and colorful.
Today I finally tried Dr Pepper. I had originally expected it to taste like Taiwanese sarsaparilla, but it had a bit of an almond flavor too. Being in Japan, it inevitably made me think of Detective Conan.

After work, I went to browse around Loft in Shibuya, which is connected to Muji. Muji’s clothes were so cheap, though apparently you need to be a member. Japanese Muji stores really have so much stuff. Loft was even more fun to explore. The same items imported into Taiwan would cost twice as much. Today I saw Pilot’s Iroshizuku series and some fountain pens too. I should come back another time and buy some.
On the way back to catch the train, I finally saw Hachiko. He was so popular that you actually had to line up to take a picture. Next time I will come back in daylight and get a photo with him.
